We are a Western Australian community-based group with a mission to create a responsive and inclusive mature age environment that promotes and supports a quality life for older and ageing people of diverse sexualities and gender identities.

We are a voluntary group that works actively in the policy and political environment and we would welcome your support and involvement.

Concern as older gays hit by blues

Here is an article from the Canberra Times on December 30, 2009 discussing the problems older gays may have with mental health issues taken from submissions to the Senate Community Affairs Committee inquiry into suicide in Australia.

GRAI also made a submission to the Senate inquiry.

Alzheimers Australia launches “Dementia: Lesbians and Gay Men”

Alzheimer’s Australia launched the discussion paper, ‘Dementia: Lesbians and Gay Men’ by Heather Birch on Thursday 19 November 2009 in NSW and around Australia in each capital city on other dates.

The paper was launched in NSW by the Hon. Michael Kirby, former Justice of the High Court of Australia.

GRAI’s Jude Comfort and Virginia Hales, who also works for Alzheimer’s Australia (WA), launched the paper in Perth.
