LoveFest Perth

Event Date:
Thursday, May 3, 2018 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

LoveFest Perth brings together people with dementia, their families and service providers to build further interest and support for creating dementia friendly communities and services. It does this by focusing on the importance of love in the lives of people with dementia. LoveFest includes a series of presentations by people with dementia, their families and friends which highlights the importance of human connection, the challenges experienced and strategies used to address these.

This is a unique professional development opportunity for service providers to hear first hand the perspectives of people with dementia and their families, and learn a range of strategies for creating dementia friendly services and communities.*

LoveFest also includes an exhibition of portraits of local people with dementia kissing someone they love. The exhibition is part of a collection of portraits called The Kiss, taken by Lisa White, The Social Photographer. LoveFest will address:

  1. The impacts of dementia on interpersonal relationships
  2. Strategies to renegotiate relationships in response to dementia
  3. The power of letter writing in acknowledging the human experience of living with dementia
  4. How belonging matters to people with dementia - and how it can be fostered
  5. The intersections between dementia and diversity of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age
